Structural Engineering

MKM staff is highly qualified and produces structural calculations and drawings as required. MKM ensures accuracy and compliance with all building code provisions.

MKM is familiar with new “green” technologies and works with other consultants to meet the latest energy and sustainability requirements.
FEASIBILITY STUDIES
MKM can assist in preliminary designs to aid developers & owners needing information to determine the feasibility of a project as it pertains to the structural system.

As required by our clients, MKM aids contractors in developing budgets of the structural design.
SEISMIC EVALUATION REPORTS
Existing structures are evaluated for seismic safety. Strengthening requirements, where facility use is to be changed, are determined.
THIRD-PARTY STRUCTURAL REVIEW
MKM has an extensive background in a multitude of structural design types. We can provide reviews of structural designs where it is desirable to expedite plan checks or to value engineers.
SPECIFICATIONS
All projects are provided with either plan specifications or edited specification manuals, or both as they relate to the structural aspects of a project.
VALUE ENGINEERING
MKM can review structural designs to evaluate if significant savings are possible through the redesign of framing and foundation elements.
Drafting & Modeling
AS-BUILT DRAFTING SERVICES
MKM has the ability to document existing structures and works with materials testing specialists to evaluate existing construction. This documentation can be used to facilitate structural upgrades or remodeling coordination.
BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING (BIM)
Designed in Revit. Three-dimensional renderings and models, with virtual reality space planning, can be provided.
MATTERPORT SCANS
Matterport scans capture a complete 3D model of your project, giving real-life dimension and scale to your structural engineering project.
3D MODELING
Our talented design team utilizes AutoDesk Revit & AutoCAD software to create accurate and precise renderings.

DOCUMENTATION
MKM offers comprehensive documentation services to ensure that our clients' construction projects are properly documented from start to finish.
PROJECT SITE STRUCTURAL OBSERVATION & REPORTS
We send trained personnel to the site to review the compliance of the construction with the approved drawings. The scope is defined upfront and reports are prepared for each visit.
CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION
On all projects, MKM provides structural observations or inspections when requested by the owner or required by the building code. We also review shop drawings for compliance with the design and a final conformance letter when required.
EXPERT WITNESS & FORENSIC INVESTIGATION
Some situations require expert testimony. MKM provides this testimony if we have the experience and expertise required for a given project. MKM also investigates existing conditions if possible, to determine the causes of structural failure.
